Licensing Process
In order to become licensed for lead-based paint activities in Iowa, you need to start with the proper training class for the license you wish to obtain. A complete list of available training classes and their descriptions can be found here.
Once you have completed your training course, you will apply for your license with the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing (DIAL). To do this you must first create an account in their licensing system. Your company/employer will also need to create an account in the licensing system. Once you create those accounts, and have taken your training course, you will apply for your license. The website for creating your account and to applying for your license can be found here.
