Lead Training Courses
8 hr Lead Safe Renovator - $190 This 8 hour course focuses on working safely with lead-based painted surfaces. This course is required by the State of Iowa and the EPA for anyone (for profit, or non-profit) working in or on pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities.
This includes, but is not limited to work such as: Painting, Siding,Windows, Gutters, Roofing, Flooring, Countertops & Cabinets, Window Treatments, Garage Doors, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC & Mechanical, Maintenance Workers, Handyman Services, Landlords, Specialty Wiring, etc. *This course is approved by the Iowa Plumbing & Mechanical Systems Board for 8 hours of continuing education credit.*
4 hr Lead Safe Renovator Refresher - $150 This 4 hour review course is required every 3 years to maintain your license. *This course is approved by the Iowa Plumbing & Mechanical Systems Board for 4 hours of continuing education credit.*
40 hr Lead Abatement Contractor - $800 This forty-hour course focuses on the permanent removal and encapsulation of lead-based paint, including OSHA and HUD requirements, interpretation of lead inspection reports, safety, rules and regulations. Topics include the history of lead, its uses and applications; health effects and medical monitoring requirements; current state and federal regulations; air monitoring and sampling; worker protection equipment; negative pressure systems; glove bag removal; and proper abatement practices and procedures.
8 hr Lead Abatement Refresher - $225 This 8 hour review course is required every 3 years to maintain your license.
24 hr Lead Abatement Worker - $675 This 24 hour course focuses on the control and removal of lead-based paint, including OSHA and HUD requirements.
Topics include: The history of lead, its uses and applications; health effects and medical monitoring requirements; current state and federal regulations; air monitoring and sampling; worker protection equipment; negative pressure systems; glove bag removal; and proper abatement practices and procedures.
8 hr Lead Abatement Refresher - $225 This 8 hour review course is required every 3 years to maintain your license.
16 hr Lead Abatement Worker to Contractor - $600 This 16 hour course enables an individual who has already been certified through the 24 hour worker course to upgrade to a lead abatement contractor.
20 hr Sampling Technician/Visual Risk Assessor - $950 This 20 hour course qualifies individuals to perform visual inspections and clearance testing after interim controls of lead-based paint hazards are performed. (This is also Part 1 of the Inspector training) *State and County agencies qualify for a reduced rate. Please call our office to register for class.
8 hr Sample Tech Refresher - $500 This 8 hour review course is required every 3 years to maintain your license.
40 hr Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor - $1800 This 40 hour course qualifies an individual to perform lead inspections and identify and manage lead hazards. Topics include responsibilities, evaluation and assessment, owner/occupant relations, hazard reduction plans, XRF testing, HUD guideline protocols and regulatory issues. *State and County agencies qualify for a reduced rate. 16 hr Inspector Refresher - $750 This 16 hour review course is required every 3 years to maintain your license.
Lead-Based Paint Hazard Awareness & Safety This 2 hour course is designed specifically for professionals that don't need the full 8-hour training Lead Safe Renovator certification course, but need to know what the Lead Safe Renovation rule is, how it applies to your current business practices and how to comply with the rule. Topics include a brief history of lead-based paint, the hazards associated with it, how to work safely and OSHA compliance.
